About the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Run Walk:

Breast cancer effects millions of women each year, and 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during their lives. Until there is a cure, the Susan G. Komen foundation will work to raise money for research and to support the women bravely facing this disease. The annual Susan G. Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure Walk is an event that welcomes breast cancer survivors, those still battling, and thousands of supporters. The goal is not only to raise money, but to rally around these women with a show of solidarity and support.

The Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure Walk will be held on Sunday, October 15th, at Kapiolani Park near Ambassador Hotel – A Honolulu Hotel. You can visit the event website to start a team, join a team, or register as an invididual. Many whose loved ones lost their breast cancer battle will run or walk in memory of them and in the hopes that the downward trend of breast fatalities will continue.

The Susan G. Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure Walk is one of many charity Honolulu Events that raises funds for the local Hawaiian community – in this case for the screening and treatment of breast cancer for those who live on the island. The Run Walk will feature a Survivor Tent, a 1-mile Walk, a 5K walk/ run, interactive sponsor booths, and much more.

If you cannot participate, you can still attend to watch and cheer the participants on. The Race for the Cure Run Walk will still welcome you with open arms as a valued supporter. After the Walk, there will be an Expo Awards Ceremony and entertainment for all to enjoy. Make sure you stay for Things to do in Honolulu like Survivor Recognition at the Kapiolani Bandstand and Photos with runners and walkers afterward.

More about the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Run Walk:
Up to 75% of the funds raised in Hawaii’s Race for the Cure Walk stay on the Islands to support local programs through educational outreach and Community Grants. Up to 25% of the funds raised go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants program, which supports groundbreaking cancer research. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Run Walk is a huge event – and it will likely see 7,500 participants. The main goal of the Walk Run is heightening awareness and educating people about breast health.
