About Hatsumode 2015:
For the Japanese community on our island, New Year’s is the most important of all cultural holidays. It’s a day when thousands of people visit a shrine to be blessed for the upcoming year and to take part in Oahu Events that welcome good luck. From December 31st, 2014 to January 5th, 2015, the island of Oahu will usher in New Year’s with the Japanese community by celebrating one of the most fun Oahu Events to take place during the year – Hatsumode 2015.

Come and embrace the spirit of the Japanese here on Oahu at Hawaii Kotohira Jinsha-Hawaii Dazaifu Tenmangu near Ambassador Hotel – An Oahu Hotel, where you too can get blessed and even get your head bitten by a Japanese Shishi lion for good luck!

If you want to stay where the top Oahu Events take place and close to the most exciting Things to do on Oahu, choose Ambassador Hotel – An Oahu Hotel for your Oahu Accommodations.

Why you should attend Hatsumode 2015:
At Hatsumode 2015, allow yourself to be invigorated by taiko drums and partake of ozone mocha soup – all in the name of Happy New Year’s! Hatsumode is a powerful ritual that the Japanese believe lays an important foundation for the upcoming New Year. The purpose of Hatsumode is to enhance the New Year with health, joy, abundance, and positive energies – which will uplift and empower our lives.

The Hatsumode traditional blessing takes place on January 1st, from midnight to 5 p.m., but there will be fun Things to do on Oahu for Hatsumode until the 5th of January, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on most days. Last year, Hatsumode offered Shishimai Lion Dance performances and Omamori charms. This year’s Hatsumode promises to be just as exciting, with Things to do on Oahu to celebrate the New Year for the entire family.
